*DECEMBER MONTHLY READING SHEETS are due
*January monthly reading sheets were sent home
  on Monday
*activities in music, gym and library
*ask your child how many days they got $1
  for following the rules this week
using the Promethean Board
show and tell on Friday

         Math
*counting tens and ones  (ex.  3 tens and 7ones  =37)
*fact families  2 + 5 = 7    5 + 2 = 7 
7 - 2 = 5    7 - 5 = 2
*math stations
*counting pennies, nickels and dimes*using a number line to add or subtract
*identifying and continuing a pattern unit
*reading a calendar- know days of the week and months of the year in correct order
*odd and even numbers
*identifying numbers to 100
*problem solving -when to add or subtract
*tangrams and math tiles
*tally marks
*geoboards
*knowing 1 more, 1 less, 10 more, and 10 less
  of a given number
   
           
 Time to get those math flashcards (addition/subtraction) out that were sent home at our first conference! Practice for memorization and speed.

           Reading/Spelling/Writing

*sight word practice
*reading centers daily (reading group, computers, listening center, and learning game center)
*Vowel Town (u in duck, o as in frog, au as in saucer, aw as in saw, o_e as in nose, oo as in good, oo as in too)
*spelling words with ou and ow
*using quotation marks in our writing and finding them in books
*DECEMBER MONTHLY READING SHEETS are due
*January monthly reading sheets were sent home on Monday.
*colored reading folders are sent home on Mondays and Thursdays, please continue to make the effort to get them returned to keep on this schedule
*spelling test on Friday- new list sent home each Friday
retelling a story by thinking about what
happened in the beginning, middle and ending
*stamina reading - We are able to read independently for over 20 minutes!
*reading with fluency- smooth sounding and with expression

           Social Studies/Science

*being a bucket filler  (character education)
*Martin Luther King, Jr,
*Kansas symbols- sunflower, meadowlark, cottonwood tree, tiger barred   salamander,  buffalo, box turtle, etc.
